in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  The article was entitled “Wheelchair accessible housing: its role in cost containment in spinal cord injury”.  The study was undertaken to determine the frequency of the need to find accessible housing delays discharge from an inpatient rehabilitation unit.

“Accessibility of primary care physicians' offices for people with disabilities: an analysis of compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act” was the name of an article written in 1999.  The study was undertaken to determine if primary care physicians are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  The study also wanted to determine to what extent offices of primary care physicians are usable for persons with disabilities and if they are accessible.

An article entitled “Universal Design of Distance Learning” talked about learning disabilities and physical disabilities, as well as mobility issues.  The article brought up some very interesting points about accessibility.  They brought up places that would need to be accessible and included distance learning centers in that list.

There was a fascinating article published in Sexuality and Disability in 1991 that revealed that most courts and shelters are not accessible.  That makes escaping abusive relationships very difficult for women with disabilities.  The article entitled “Escaping from abuse: Unique issues for women with disabilities” was very interesting.

The Journal of Mechanical Design published “Vibration Simulation Model of Passenger-Wheelchair System in Accessible Vehicle” in 2004.  This article was written by Y Matsuoka, K Kawai and R Sato and has been cited one time.
